HALO nightclub are dealing their top hand as they unleash Radio 1 DJ, Pete Tong MBE, onto the decks to celebrate their second birthday this weekend.

The self-proclaimed pied piper of dance music will be the headline act on Sunday, May 3, as part of a four-day celebration at the church to mark two years of welcoming in huge DJ acts and celebrity appearances.

Ty Temel, owner of Halo nightclub, said that they are pulling out all the stops to ensure it is a party to remember.

"On Sunday night we welcome Radio 1 legend Pete Tong MBE for his Halo debut. His two-hour DJ set will no doubt contain some of the most upfront anthems of the summer and will be my highlight of the weekend personally.

"We are open all four nights over the bank holiday weekend kicking off on Friday night with special guest, DJ DSD.

"Saturday night is all about the Halo experience and this weekend we have enlisted some first class performers to join the celebrations with fire breathers, angle grinders and a very special surprise.

"Then on Monday we have our Saints & Sinners student party, which has been one of our biggest successes of the past year."

Just a few days ago, the team from AFC Bournemouth raised a glass to their promotion to the Premier League following the game against Bolton with an after-party at Halo, on Monday, April 27. Having announced their open-top bus parade around the town during the day on Monday, May 4, Halo will continue the red and black-themed party with a 1,000 balloon drop over partygoers in the evening.

Asked what has changed at Halo over the past 12 months, he said: "Aesthetically as a venue we have upgraded our sound and lighting and DJ booth. We are also in the process of finishing our VIP area.

"We are attracting so many different types of people to the club at the moment from out-of-town VIPS to university students, international students and cool clubbers."

Ty said that everybody who works for Halo 'lives and breaths' the club and so their proudest moment was getting a sought-after accolade from a national accreditation scheme.

"Winning Best Bar None was special for us to be recognised as the town's best nightclub operators. It shows how far we have come in such a short space of time and proves that the council were right in giving us our licence."

Advance tickets for Pete Tong's DJ set cost £10 per person and doors open at 10pm. For more information, go to Halobournemouth.com
