A MAN of 27 suffered life-threatening injuries in an early hours assault.
He was injured during an altercation in Cairo Street, Grangetown, Sunderland at 2.15am on Monday (April 27).
He was taken by ambulance to Sunderland Royal Hospital and later transferred to the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
Police investigating have arrested four people on suspicion of assault - two men aged 26 and 21, a 19-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl. All have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
