JOHN CARVER knows nothing about any interest from Crystal Palace in goalkeeper Tim Krul – and Alan Pardew claims to be in exactly the same boat.

Reports have surfaced suggesting that the Eagles are plotting a summer raid on St James’ Park for the £10m-rated Dutchman but that was denied by Pardew this afternoon.

Now Carver, who is ready to welcome Jonas Gutierrez back in to the Newcastle squad for this Saturday’s visit of Swansea after an incident on the training ground, insists his regular discussions with Pardew have not centred on the No 1.

Carver said: "Is that right? I'll be expecting a call from Alan then! I've not heard anything but if that's the case we'll have to watch this space. He's not spoken to me about it and we've spoken about a lot of things but not Tim.”

Pardew worked with Krul throughout his five years in charge on Tyneside but is adamant that there are no plans to move for him despite the fact that Palace keeper Julian Speroni is out of contract this summer.

"Well I'm surprised at that because there's been no contact between me and Newcastle, and certainly there's been no contact between me and the player or the agents who represent him," said Pardew.

"I don't know where that's come from, and quite frankly it's unwelcome really. I have a great situation with my goalies here.

"Tim Krul is a great goalie but he's a Newcastle goalie and I'm pretty confident that's where he'll stay.

"So I don't understand that, but as far as we're concerned we're looking at a number of players for next year, but at the moment not the goalkeeping position.”

Krul is set to stay between the posts for Newcastle when they look to end a run of six straight defeats on Saturday when Swansea travel to the North-East.

Carver could call on Argentine midfielder Gutierrez again after he was left out of the squad for last weekend’s defeat to Tottenham.

The pair had a meeting on Monday at the training ground to discuss a situation which arose last week, although Carver would not go in to any further details.

But the head coach said: "There was a situation on the training ground which happens at every club, we've got together, had a conversation, shaken hands like two grown men and we're moving on.

“Without going into too much detail because I think what happens on the training ground or dressing room stays there.

“As far as we're both concerned he trained with us on Monday, we had a conversation, it was a private conversation, no hard feelings, we've shaken hands and moving on - he's in the squad absolutely.”
