RADIO star Alex Horne is set to close this year's Barnard Castle Comedy Festival.

Radio 4 comedian Alex Horne will present an extended version of his award-winning comedy show, Monsieur Butterfly, at The Witham arts centre on Saturday, July 18.

The show, which was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2014 and won a Chortle Award back in March, sees Horne attempt to recreate the board game Mousetrap live on stage.

Festival director Peter Dixon said: "We couldn't find a better show than Alex Horne's latest to close our first ever comedy festival.

"Not only is he one of the funniest men I've ever seen but this show is pure fun.

"It created a massive buzz at last year's Edinburgh Festival and we were thrilled to bring Alex to Barnard Castle as part of a small UK tour, limited only by the fact that during the year he has been so busy recording lots of new TV shows."

The festival, organised by Teesdale comedy promoters Funny Way To Be, will take place at The Witham arts centre on Horsemarket.

Shows will run from 12pm until late, with Alex Horne's show taking place at 8.30pm.

Earlybird day tickets for the festival cost £45 and are on sale now. For more information, visit barnardcastlecomedy.com.
