* SCOTLAND'S Under-21 side could provide further hope, and Craig Brown

will be anxious to know if two players in particular, Paul Bernard and

Andy Dow, have shown they are ready to step into the senior squad.

The coach is convinced the Oldham Athletic's Bernard, a central

midfield player, has the talent to go all the way, and has challenged

him to reach out and claim a place in the squad for the final World Cup

qualifying tie against Malta next month. The same applies to Dow, who

plays on the left side of midfield, a problem area for Scotland. He is

about to be transferred from Chelsea to Coventry City for #300,000.

Squad:

Howie (Norwich City), Wright (Aberdeen), Pressley (Rangers), Tweed

(Hibernian), Dow (Chelsea), Murray (Rangers), Bernard (Oldham), Skilling

(Kilmarnock), Ferguson (Manchester United), Dailly (Dundee UNited),

McGrillen (Motherwell).
