A ROYAL aide emerged from his mother's funeral to be told his son had

died in a road crash on the way to the service. Mr Henry Elwes, Lord

Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, and his wife, Carolyn, were yesterday

mourning the death of their son, George, 22. A Bristol University

student, he was driving to his grandmother's funeral at the parish

church in Colesbourne, near Cheltenham, when he was in a head-on

collision with a lorry. He was killed instantly in the crash close to

his father's 2400-acre estate, Colesbourne Park.
