A MEMORIAL service is to be held next May for the 37 crewmen who died

on a Second World War submarine which sank off Arran. The wreck of HMS

Vandal, which was lost in 1943 after only three days in service, was

located earlier this month by two Royal Navy minehunters and has now

been designated as an official war grave. The service will be held in

Dunoon and a wreath laid above the site of the Vandal, which was found

in 300ft of water one-and-a-half miles north-west of Lochranza in

Kilbrannan Sound.
