EMPLOYEES of Grampian Regional Council are being encouraged to try to

win up to #1000 by saving their employer money, or improving efficiency.

Yesterday the council launched a scheme which will offer all 23,000

employees a role in management. The suggestion scheme is part of the

council's recently introduced Total Quality Management philosophy which

strives for constant improvement. One example is that any call to the

council's headquarters should be answered within 20 seconds to eliminate

unnecessary delays for the public. Suggestions which result in

exceptional savings will qualify for a #1000 award, major savings for a

#500 award, significant for #250, and marginal for #100.
