A PLEA to farming trade organisations to try and influence dairy

farmers to support the proposals for the reform of the UK milk marketing

boards has been made by Mr Bryan Carr, president of the Federation of

Agricultural Co-operatives.

''In today's competitive marketplace the need for farmers to

co-operate and negotiate on equal terms with their powerful customers

has never been greater,'' he argues.

''I would urge all companies with an investment in UK agriculture to

offer their support for the proposals for a new co-operative structure,

which have been announced recently. Dairy farmers, and their suppliers,

will be stronger as a result.''
