A CONCERT band has paid tribute to its longest serving member.
Hurworth Concert Band helped bass clarinetist Mike Frankton celebrate his 90th birthday at a special rehearsal last night (Wednesday, March 4).
Mr Frankton has been with the band for the last 33 years, and last December braved chilly conditions to play Christmas carols outside Beamish Museum.
The 90-year-old also plays in a number of other music groups across the borough of Darlington.
To help him celebrate his milestone birthday, the band’s flautist baked a birthday cake which was presented at a special rehearsal.
Hurworth Concert Band rehearse every Wednesday from 7.30pm at Hurworth Grange Community Centre, in Hurworth, near Darlington.
New members are always welcome.
