A TEAM of experts has been assembled in readiness for a cathedral’s new exhibition spaces opening to the public.

Durham Cathedral, which is moving ahead with its £10m Open Treasure project to create new world-class exhibition spaces for treasures from its own archives and across the world, has recruited three new staff.

Lisa Di Tommaso, the new head of collections, is a former librarian at The Natural History Museum in London.

Marie-Therese Mayne has been appointed exhibitions officer and Megan de la Hunt takes up the new post of documentation officer.

Ms Di Tomasso, an Australian, said: “I am very much looking forward to seeing the cathedral’s new exhibition space that is being created in the former Great Kitchen as part of the Open Treasure project – it will be very exciting to plan how the wonderful collections such as Cuthbert’s Treasures will be displayed there.”

This summer the cathedral will join celebrations of the 800th anniversary of the signing of Magna Carta, displaying its unique 1216 edition and sending its 1225 version to Canada.
