ARTISTS from across the region will be displaying their work in a charity event this weekend.

The exhibition at Heighington Village Hall, near Darlington, is being held in aid of Butterwick Hospice and Phoenix House Recovery Centre in Catterick, the chosen charities of the Mayor of Darlington.

The event, featuring new and established artists, starts with a preview night on Friday, March 6 from 6.30pm (for 7pm) until 9pm.

Entrance is £5 and includes a glass of wine and refreshments. Tickets are valid all weekend and there will be works of art for sale.

The exhibition continues on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm both days, with a ticket price of £2 including refreshments.

Mayor Gerald Lee, who represents Heighington on Darlington Borough Council, has already held several successful charity events during his year in office, including an evening with Sherlock actor and Doctor Who writer Mark Gatiss last December.
