A NORTH Yorkshire stately home has announced that this year’s Proms Spectacular concert will go back to its roots for its 25th anniversary celebrations.

The Proms Spectacular will be held at Castle Howard, near Malton, on Saturday, August 22 and promoter Lighthouse Events is promising an event that will impress.

The concert will feature popular classics, film themes, as well as flag waving favourites associated with The Last Night Of The Proms.

The line-up will include Jae Alexander, famed for his work with West End musicals, who will be returning alongside special guests, to be announced over the coming weeks.

The concert will kick with an original Second World War Spitfire performing aerial acrobatics over the audience as the UK Philharmonic Orchestra performs Walton’s Spitfire Prelude and the Dambusters Theme.

The concert will end with Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory played alongside a specially choreographed pyrotechnics show which will light up the night sky over Castle Howard.

David Stubley, of Lighthouse Events, said: “Over the past 25 years, the Proms Spectacular has built a strong and loyal audience and it’s our aim, to provide the audience with a premium experience.

“For anyone who hasn’t experienced the Proms Spectacular I would urge them to join us this year as it will be a truly special night.

“Gather your friends and family, plan the picnics and the wine and get ready for a very special 25th Anniversary Proms Spectacular.”
