A TEENAGER from Wensleydale who became an author last year has now written a sequel.

When Hannah Russell first met Alfie the miniature Shetland she knew he was the one for her. As well as being from a small breed the two-year-old pony suffers from the rare condition of dwarfism.

Inspired by her new pet pony’s antics at 17 years of age Ms Russell, who is from Leyburn, wrote her first book: The Magical Adventure of Little Alf - the Discovery of the Wild Pony last year. Thinking that Alfie’s antics would make good children’s story she took advice from an author friend and set about writing.

Now still only 18-years-old, six months later she has followed up it’s success with a second adventure and has even more planned. She explained: “ My first book took six months to complete and I was pleased as I sold a lot more than I thought.

“The second was little easier to write and is much better as it is longer and has more photographs in.”

Her new book is another adventure story and is intended for children of any age with further plans for more literary work.

She continued:” The next Alfie adventure is a Christmas book; I’d like to write a series of books for teenagers. A share of the profit on my books go to Riding for the Disabled.”
