A BARNARD Castle family was treated to a break to Hadrian’s Wall at the weekend after winning a competition hosted by English Heritage.

The Bradburn family spent three nights in the area and was hosted by Lanercost Holiday Cottages and English Heritage.

That’s after they won a competition on English Heritage’s social media sites to enjoy the winter break, which included three nights at the Lanercost Holiday Cottages, a hamper from the Lanercost Tearooms and a visitor pass to Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage sites.

Angela Ferguson-Bradburn, along with her partner, Michelle Ferguson and two children, Joseph, seven, and Bella, four, had the opportunity to spend time in the footsteps of Roman soldiers from Birdoswald Roman Fort across to Housesteads Roman Fort.

To enter, Ms Ferguson-Bradburn, posted the reason why a holiday to Hadrian’s Wall would make her year online.

She was picked from over 200 entries, writing: “We love adventure and to explore as a family.

“My little Roman Soldiers would march through - un-knowingly learning about our past and dreaming of future adventures their little feet will take them on”.
