TEN-year-old Amy Bone, of Willington, travelled to Turkey for the 1st ETU Children's European Taekwondo Championships and returned home the proud winner of a bronze medal awarded to her as a beaten semi-finalist.
In the quarter-finals, Amy completely dominated her fight and went through to the semi-finals with a convincing score of 22-1.
In the semi-final Amy met an opponent from Turkey. The Willington youngster gave everything in the very close encounter and only lost 1-0. Amy’s conqueror went on to take the gold medal with a very easy victory in the final.
Amy’s father, Jason was delighted with his daughter’s achievement and said: “One of the proudest moments I’ve ever witnessed was seeing Amy on the podium.”
