Recent cases at Northallerton Magistrates’ Court include:
Lee Phillip Thomas Butler, 20, of Ryders Wynd, Richmond, admitted to keeping a stolen bottle of vodka. He was fined £100, with a £20 victim surcharge.
Braedon Luke Cartwright, 18, of Woodhall, Askrigg, admitted to trespassing at Leyburn Auction Mart and stealing £3, and to attempting to steal an honesty box to the value of £20. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge, and ordered to pay £303 compensation, a £15 victim surcharge, and £85 costs.
Peter Hutchinson, 70, of Bedale Road, Aiskew, admitted to driving while over the legal alcohol limit. He was fined £380, with a £38 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
Thomas Stephenson, 18, of Ryders Wynd, Richmond, admitted to theft and to entering a building as a trespasser. A community order for unpaid work was made, and he was ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge.
Janice Todd, 53, of Elm Tree Avenue, Colburn, admitted to committing fraud to gain £2,141.91 from her employer. She was ordered to pay the full amount back in compensation, and a community order for unpaid work was made.
