THE jury in the trial of two men accused of raping a drunken teenager in an alleyway has retired to consider its verdicts.
It is alleged Kristofer McLaren and Craig Whitelaw took advantage of the brunette's condition when they met in Amadeus nightclub in Northallerton, North Yorkshire.
The men, both aged 21, and from nearby Thirsk, claim the sexual activity that took place last August was consensual.
McLaren, of Rymer Way, and Whitelaw, of Ivy Cottage, Sutton, deny two charges of rape, and the latter also denies sexual assault.
The trial at Teesside Crown Court will enter its eighth day today, with the jury of ten men and two women resuming its deliberations.
The judge, Mr Justice Males, finished his summing up yesterday, and the panel was sent home for the night after failing to reach verdicts after an hour of discussions.
