SINGER-songwriters Billy Bragg and John Grant will be joined by North-East folk group The Unthanks as the headline acts at a family festival, it has been announced.

The sixth Deer Shed Festival, which will be held at Baldersby Park, near Thirsk from July 24 to 26, will also feature shows by The Wedding Present, The Felice Brothers, Dan Croll and Ibibio Sound Machine.

A festival spokesman said over the coming months the Deer Shed team would fine tune the musical showcase and announce an array of other entertainment, including PG-rated comedy, authors, science, theatre and workshops.

Co-founder Oliver Jones said: "2014’s line up was a hard act to follow with Johnny Marr and British Sea Power, but we think we’ve cracked it with John Grant who just blows your mind, alongside the incredible Billy Bragg, who is nothing short of a living legend.

"We manage to balance some big acts whilst maintaining our cosy, family feel, which is what we’re all about.”

Last month, the festival won a gold award from Festival Kidz, after being rated exceptional or good in all categories.
