MIDDLESBROUGH’S reward for last weekend’s FA Cup victory over Manchester City is a trip to Arsenal in the fifth round of the competition.

Having already played at Anfield and the Etihad Stadium this season, Boro will head to the Emirates on the weekend of February 14-15 hoping to perform another giant-killing act.

Sunderland will be looking to avoid a shock if they see off Fulham in next week’s fourth-round replay, as last night’s draw handed them a potential fifth-round trip to Bradford City, who saw off Premier League leaders Chelsea at the weekend.

Middlesbrough’s supporters will be relishing the prospect of a trip to North London, with around 8,000 tickets likely to be secured for a game that is expected to attract live television coverage.

The Teessiders’ last trip to the Emirates came in April 2009, shortly before their relegation to the Championship, and resulted in a 2-0 home win thanks to goals from Cesc Fabregas.

Boro’s last away win at Arsenal came in 2004, with Juninho’s second-half strike sealing a 1-0 semi-final first-leg victory that helped the club reach the Carling Cup final in Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.

The two sides’ last meeting in the FA Cup came in the semi-final of the competition in 2002, with Gianluca Festa’s own goal proving decisive.

Middlesbrough’s players took to Twitter to express their satisfaction at the draw, with striker Jelle Vossen tweeting: “Arsenal away – very nice draw! But first...all focus on Brentford!”

Midfielder Adam Clayton wrote: “Another easy away day for the Boro boys!! Hahaha can’t wait!”

Prior to the draw, Patrick Bamford, whose opening goal paved the way for Saturday’s shock win over Manchester City, had picked out a trip to Arsenal as the ideal reward for his team-mates’ efforts at the Etihad.

Middlesbrough and Bradford shared the FA Cup limelight at the weekend, and Sunderland will attempt to avoid becoming the latter’s latest cup victims if they see off Fulham next Tuesday.

The Black Cats’ reward for a replay win at Craven Cottage will be a trip to Valley Parade to face the League One Bantams, meaning Gus Poyet’s side could reach the quarter-finals without having had to beat any top-flight opposition.

Sunderland’s last trip to Bradford came in 2003, and resulted in a 4-0 win for the Black Cats thanks to goals from Gary Breen, Marcus Stewart, Julio Arca and Sean Thornton. The sides have only met once in the FA Cup, with Sunderland triumphing 1-0 in 1909.

Elsewhere in the draw, Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace will host either Liverpool or Bolton, while Manchester United will travel to either Preston or Sheffield United if they see off Cambridge United in a replay.

FA Cup fifth-round draw: Crystal Palace vs Liverpool or Bolton, Arsenal vs MIDDLESBROUGH, Aston Villa vs Leicester, West Brom vs West Ham, Bradford vs SUNDERLAND or Fulham, Blackburn vs Rochdale or Stoke, Derby vs Reading, Preston or Sheffield United vs Cambridge or Manchester United. (Games to be played on the weekend of February 14-15)
