NORTH Yorkshire woke up to a wintery scene this morning (Wednesday, January 21), after snow fell across the county.
As commuters hit the roads there were a number of minor crashes as cars skidded on the snow and freezing surfaces.
On Coppice Drive in Harrogate, three cars collided just before 8am and just an hour later four more cars collided on the same street.
There was another minor crash at 7.25am in Burley Bank Road in Hampsthwaite near Harrogate and a can hit a road sign in Portland Crescent in Harrogate an hour later.
The snowy scenes were short-lived after the flurries turned largely to rain during the morning.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and police said after rain cleared the snow away earlier this morning, there had not been any other weather-related incidents.
According to the Met Office, the snow showers will be confined to high ground, but ice is expected overnight (Wednesday / Thursday, January 22.)
