MIDDLESBROUGH have turned down the opportunity to keep Milos Veljkovic on Teesside.

Veljkovic is set to return to White Hart Lane following his three-month loan at the Riverside Stadium.

The young midfielder, who can also operate at centre-back, only made four appearances for Boro and three of those came from the bench.

Aitor Karanka, the Middlesbrough boss, said: “I’d like to thank Milos for his efforts while he was here and wish him all the best for the future. I’d also like to thank Tottenham for allowing him to come here for three months.”

Veljkovic has performed solidly when asked by Karanka, but the arrival of versatile Chelsea youngster Tomas Kalas has reduced the need for him to stay.
