PEOPLE in Bedale witnessed a street nativity starting with the annunciation to Mary, a checkout operator in the Co-op, from the Angel Gabriel then recounting the Christmas story at different locations around town including a flash mob dance of angels in the Black Swan car park (see photo).

The final scene took place in St Gregory's Church where the final angel appeared at the stable, descending through the opening in the ringing chamber floor to the foot of the tower in front of the font. The angel was in fact the rector the Rev Ian Robinson whose brainchild the Angels About had been (see second photo). The nativity was followed by prize giving for the wonderful angels created and displayed around town by businesses, schools, and other organisations and for the writing competition for stories about angels.

The entries were judged by Tim Lichfield of Star Radio and Andy Bickerton of Cuzins restaurant in Bedale Golf Club, the principal sponsor for Angels About. The winning story entries were recorded by Star Radio and have been loaded onto the angelsabout.uk web site where all the winning angel entries can also be viewed (see photo on attachment).

The event took place on Saturday, Dedcember 20.
