TWO motorists suffered serious injuries following a two-vehicle collision this morning (Wednesday, December 24).

Just after 10am Cleveland Police closed Darlington Back Lane and Redmarshall Road, on the outskirts of Stockton, to enable firecrews to cut free the occupants of the vehicles, a white Vauxhall Corsa and a black Ford Focus Zetec.

Both male drivers of the cars have been taken to hospital, the driver of the Zetec needed assistance to be removed from his car and was taken to James Cook University Hospital.

The driver of the Corsa was taken to University Hospital of North Tees - neither have suffered life-threatening injuries.

Redmarshall Road has been closed off at the junction with Darlington Back Lane and will remain closed for at least two hours.

Another collision involving a blue Ford Fiesta and a blue Vauxhall Zafira happened on the same stretch of road at 11.40am with the drivers suffering minor injuries.
