POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a tanker carrying aviation fuel and a van collided on a busy Darlington roundabout.
It happened at 9.40am yesterday (Monday, December 22) at the A167 and A66 roundabout on the outskirts of Darlington.
Investigating officer PC Gary Fenwick said the result could have been “disastrous” given the explosive cargo the tanker was carrying.
The van, a silver Transit, was written off in the incident but the tanker, a white MAN vehicle, suffered only minor damage to its front.
PC Fenwick is asking any witnesses to the collision to contact him on 101.
