THE authentic taste of the USA is now available in Redcar after the Rock n Roll Diner opened its doors after receiving over £8,000 from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's Coastal Communities Fund.

Amanda and Ian Sullivan opened the American-style restaurant in Queen Street, Redcar, last month, and have already created five jobs.

The couple took inspiration from their transatlantic travels and have adorned their diner with authentic seating booths, a juke box and fifties memorabilia.

Amanda Sullivan said: “We have been to America a few times and we think it’s a great way to eat and there’s nothing else like it in Redcar and Cleveland.

“The Diner has a few fun extras, like miniature chocolate guitars and children’s food served in toy Cadillacs and we also have specialist kitchen equipment to ensure we serve up the authentic diner taste.”

Cabinet member for economic development, Cllr Mark Hannon said: “Grants of up to £10,000 in match funding are available through the Coastal Communities Fund to business start-ups and existing firms in the area who are looking to create new jobs.

Local companies have until March next year to apply and with nearly £200,000 funding still available I would encourage businesses in the tourism and leisure industry in the borough to get in touch.”
