A CHARITY helped ensure that homeless and vulnerable people in Darlington enjoyed some festive cheer at an annual Christmas party.

The event, held at Walkington House, was organised by the Foundation charity which has been helping the town’s homeless and vulnerable for the last six years.

Partygoers tucked into a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and enjoyed games and quizzes organised by Foundation staff and volunteers.

Heron foods, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s all made generous donations in support of the event which complemented gift donations from Foundation staff and supporters.

Volunteer Siobhan Waller said a great time was had by all.

She added: “It went really well, everyone enjoyed it and got involved with the bingo and games.

“Everyone got a present thanks to all the donations we got and it was a really, really good day.”

Foundation is a Leeds-based charity that operates across the North.

It has been in Darlington since 2008 and holds daily advice and information sessions at Hallmark House, Chancery Lane, from 10am to 3.30pm for anybody needing support with housing or social exclusion issues.
