A PET charity is calling out for animal lovers to make Christmas special for all the homeless and abandoned cats and dogs in its care.

Blue Cross in Thirsk is appealing for funds to give animals staying at the centre an extra treat or toy, and has also launched an Amazon gift list to help get all the pets the goodies they deserve.

From special play tunnels to keep cats exercised and mentally stimulated, to chews and training equipment for the dogs at the centre.

Emma Pannell, centre manager at Thirsk Blue Cross said: “Every year, we try and make the pets stay with us extra special over Christmas.

"We hope local animal lovers will help us with a donation or special gift from the wish list which has items for all budgets. Just a few pence will really make a difference to homeless pets at Christmas.

"Local support really does help all the homeless animals cared for at the centre. Pets like Trudie, who was found all alone as a stray.

"She has been at the centre for over 100 days and would love a home to call her own in time for Christmas."
