NORTH-EAST duo Fraser Forster and Stewart Downing have both been named in the England starting line-up for this evening's friendly with Scotland at Celtic Park.

The pair are part of five changes that Roy Hodgson has made to the starting XI that kicked off Saturday's Euro 2016 qualifying win over Slovenia.

Hexham-born Forster wins his third senior cap as he replaces Joe Hart in goal, while Teessider Downing makes his first international appearance since May 2012 after getting the nod ahead of Raheem Sterling at the attacking apex of England's midfield diamond.

The only change to the back four sees Manchester United centre-half Chris Smalling partnering Gary Cahill instead of Phil Jagielka.

James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain return to the midfield, with Wearsider Jordan Henderson and his Liverpool team-mate, Adam Lallana, dropping down to the bench.

There is no place for Steven Fletcher in the Scotland line-up, as the Sunderland striker is nursing up a minor injury sustained in last Friday's qualifying win over the Republic of Ireland.
