SEDGEFIELD RACECOURSE will welcome a variety of charities to today’s Remembrance Race Day – along with racing legends John Francombe, Bob Champion and Derek Thompson.

Today’s seven-race programme will help to raise funds for Macmillan, the largest cancer care and support charity in the UK, the Injured Jockeys Fund, a charity that supports injured jockeys and their families, and The Bob Champion Trust, an organisation that is funding a major cancer research project.

Francome, Champion and Thompson will be attending the race day and mingling with hospitality guests throughout the afternoon, with the hospitality suite situated next to the parade ring.

As today’s race day coincides with Remembrance Day, there will be a one-minute silence 15 minutes before the first race begins at 12.50pm.

Jill Williamson, executive director at Sedgefield Racecourse, said: “We are honoured to welcome all three charities to the racecourse and we wish them a successful and profitable day. This will be a perfect opportunity to raise awareness for the charities and raise much-needed funds.”

Tickets to join the trio of racing celebrities in the hospitality suite are priced at £75, and include a hospitality entrance badge, arrival drink, three-course meal, raceday programme and private viewing facilities.

Gates open at 11am, with racing getting under way at 12.50pm and finishing with the final race at 3.50pm. Grandstand and paddock tickets are available on the day for £16.
