REPUNZEL may be the heroine of the fairytale but it was little Phoebe Wright who stole the show when she donated her golden locks to charity.
The brave seven-year-old had 11-inches of hair chopped off in front of her classmates at Sedgefield Hardwick Primary School in Sedgefield, County Durham, this morning (Tuesday, October 21).
Phoebe, from Fishburn, has donated her ponytail to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides free real-hair wigs to children undergoing cancer treatment.
She has also raised almost £300 for the charity.
Phoebe was inspired by former pupil, Rebecca Stuart, who donated her hair to the charity in February.
Rebecca wanted to ensure her best friend Amy Stockill, who was undergoing chemotherapy, did not suffer hair loss alone.
“I wanted to help too,” said Phoebe, now sporting a stylish bob created by Chris Ford of Ford and Ford hair salon in Sedgefield.
“Most of the girls in my class have long hair and they really like their hair. I think my friends are proud of me for giving mine to charity.”
