A KEEN amateur baker who used her loaf in inventing a delicious American-style bread has had her winning recipe created and sold by her local bakery.
Olivia’s Bakery and Cafe held its own bake-off contest recently, where it asked customers to submit new bread recipes.
The winner was an American breakfast bread created by Felicity Day from Northallerton. The mouth-watering recipe included maple syrup, pecans and smokey bacon and was recreated by Olivia’s bakers on Saturday and sold in its shops.
The keen baker also won a place on a bread-making course at Olivia’s Clervaux Bakery in Darlington.
Manager of the Northallerton cafe, Steve Hewitt, said: “We asked people to come up with suggestions for a new bread for us and had lots and lots of entries.
“Our head baker chose the winner and if it goes down well with customers, we’ll keep selling it.”
