A TALENTED young violinist has hit a high note with her latest academic achievements.

Ceara Sutton-Jones has just been awarded an A* for GCSE music, two years early, aged 14.

She sat her Grade eight piano exam last term, which she passed with a merit and plans to take a grade eight violin exam this term.

Miss Sutton-Jones, of Darlington, also came joint 2nd in the intermediate category for a national competition held at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester.

The youngster also represents the school in hockey, netball and swimming and has even been invited to play at weddings, including those of teachers at Barnard Castle School.

Miss Sutton-Jones, who is a pupil of Barnard Castle School, is planning on sitting her diploma in violin and piano with the intention of helping younger children learn music.

She said she is looking forward to playing at the annual Christmas Concert at The Bowes Museum, in Barnard Castle, and the Gala Theatre in Durham where Barnard Castle will hold their music concert.
