NEWCASTLE UNITED (4-2-3-1):
4 Krul: Lucky not to have conceded a penalty or be sent off when he clattered into Long early on;
5 Janmaat: Tried to support in attack, but that left gaps. One of few players who went over to clap supporters
2 Coloccini: Complete lack of endeavour from the captain, who also failed to acknowledge supporters at the end
2 Williamson: Awful day at the office, which was littered with mistakes. At fault for at least two of the goals
5 Haidara: Swung in a couple of decent crosses, but there was no one to get on the end of them;
5 COLBACK: Missed Newcastle’s best chance from three yards out and just couldn’t get his team going from midfield
4 Anita: Turned into danger at times and lost the ball before he was taken off at half time;
4 Sissoko: Few bright moments in his preferred central position, but did too much moaning when decisions went against
3 Cabella: Still doesn’t look strong enough for the Premier League and gave the ball away in good positions
3 Gouffran: Offered nothing going forward and didn’t do his usual job of tracking back very well;
3 Riviere: Didn’t get much support but when the ball came his way Saints cleared with ease
Subs
Tiote (for Anita, 46): Brought on to offer the back four more protection, but that didn’t go to plan. 4
Perez (for Cabella, 69): Had some bright moments and at least tried when he came on. 6
Ameobi (for Sissoko, 89)
Not used: Elliot, Obertan, Taylor, Armstrong.
Man of the match – GRAZIANO Pelle – Ran Newcastle ragged from start to finish.
