Paramedics fight to save motorist after Dales smash

A MAN in his eighties has been seriously hurt in a road smash in the Yorkshire Dales.

At around 4pm today, September 4, his Seat Ibiza collided with a wall on Harmby Road between Leyburn and Bedale.

The driver suffered serious injuries in the collision and is being treated at the scene by paramedics.

The road is currently closed between the A6108 and Harmby village. It is expected to remain closed for some time while officers deal with the incident and examine the scene.

Any witnesses to the collision are urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option one and pass information to the force control room.
