A CAR park in Darlington served as a landing pad for the Great North Air Ambulance Service this afternoon (Sunday, August 31).
The helicopter was responding to a call about a woman who had suffered suspected head injuries after a fall outside the Wilkinson’s shop in the town centre at about 1pm.
The helicopter circled the town for several minutes before landing in a large car park off the St Cuthbert’s Way ring road, but when paramedics reached the woman her injuries were found to be minor.
She had suffered bruising and cuts to her face and head and the GNAAS crew stayed with her until an ambulance was available to take her to Darlington Memorial Hospital for a check over.
