COUPLES-to-be can now look forward to tying the knot in historic fashion.

York’s Castle Museum has just been granted a wedding licence for the first ever evening ceremonies in Yorkshire.

And it means couple will be able to enjoy settings such as the Victorian cobbled street of Kirkgate as their evening wedding backdrop.

Events manager Jennifer Chadwick said: “We are often approached by couples who are looking for a wedding ceremony with a difference and York Castle Museum is certainly that.

“The venue itself is beautiful, particularly for those looking for a vintage feel, but the fact that we will be the only venue to hold evening weddings in the whole of Yorkshire will make it even more special.”

In celebration of the newly acquired licence, York Venues will be holding their next Wedding Fair at York Castle Museum on September 4 from 6.30pm to 9.30pm, in partnership with event planners Kiss the Bride.
