THE annual Thirsk Racecourse Ladies’ Day takes place next month – and the racecourse is encouraging the county's ladies and gentleman to dress to impress.

On Saturday, September 6 the judges will be on the lookout for race-goers with the most impressive attire.

There will be £300 worth of fashion vouchers courtesy of Barkers of Northallerton for the winners of the best dressed lady and best dressed gentleman competitions. There will also be a Jenny Roberts Millinery bespoke hat for the winner of the best ladies’ hat.

The winner of the Thirsk Ladies' Day Best Dressed Lady competition will go through to the Go Racing in Yorkshire best dressed grand final at Doncaster on Saturday, October 25 at Doncaster Racecourse, alongside winners from all the other Yorkshire tracks.

Sophia Monkman, marketing manager, said: “Our best dressed lady and best dressed gentleman competitions are hotly contested, with some of our race goers coming back year after year hoping to win the competition.”
