A CHARITY which works to protecting and enhancing the Yorkshire Dales is set to launch a fundraising calendar with images taken by visitors and residents.

The Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust’s (YDMT) 2015 calendar features some scenes ranging from Malham Cove and Scaleber Falls to Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent.

The images were brought together through a Facebook photography competition which the Trust ran in collaboration with Yorkshire Cottages, part of Wyndham Vacation Rentals (UK) Ltd, which has donated over £14,000 since 2006 to support the charity's work.

More than 150 images were entered into the competition by local photographers as well visitors to the Dales from as far away as Japan.

Nigel Hunter from Lancashire, was crowned the winner for his shot of the limestone pavement near Ingleborough.

Drew Dunn, director at Yorkshire Cottages said: “It is not only a collection of superb photos hanging on the wall, but a year-long reminder of YDMT’s important contribution to protecting the Dales."

Money raised from the calendar will be used to restore wildlife habitats such as broadleaf woodlands and wildflower hay meadows, education and outreach work, improvements to access, and supporting local community groups and businesses.

The calendar, costing £10 is available at ydmt.org/shop or by calling 01524-251002.
