A house caught fire in Harrogate in the early hours of this morning (Sunday, August 24).
Fire crews were called to Scargill Road in the town at 2.53am after receiving several calls reporting a house on fire. When they arrived, they found the building well alight.
Everyone inside had already escaped before they arrived, but two people suffered smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is unknown, but it started in a ground floor lounge/bedroom. The room was badly damaged and there was heavy smoke damage to the rest of the home. A fire investigation officer and crew from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service are due to revisit the site later today (Sunday, August 24).
