A DARLINGTON couple have completed the challenge of climbing all 214 Wainwright peaks after almost ten years.
Peter and Philippa Sinclair started fell walking in 2005, when a friend encouraged Mrs Sinclair to climb Hellvellyn after she had been treated for back problems.
The couple found they enjoyed the challenge and decided to complete all the hills and mountains described in Alfred Wainwright's seven-volume Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells.
In the last few months, they have had the last ten fells sponsored to raise funds for Christian Aid, in order to spur them on to finish the challenge.
Their last climb was Holme Fell, on August 15.
A group of friends and family joined them and they celebrated with champagne and strawberries at the top.
Mr and Mrs Sinclair have raised more than £900 for Christian Aid.
