A FUN tennis tournament in memory of a club member has helped to raise hundreds of pounds for a hospice.
The annual Ellen Hobbs Tournament took place at New Blackwell Lawn Tennis Club, in Darlington, at the weekend.
Members donated £103 and that was matched by the club, meaning a total of £206 was raised for St Teresa’s Hospice.
The competition was instigated by Malcolm Stringer, in memory of his partner Ellen Hobbs, who was a long-standing member of the club.
Club chairman John Zissler said: “This tournament is always well supported by club members who take the opportunity to acknowledge how St Teresa's Hospice helped Ellen and continues to help and support so many others.”
The men’s winner was Jonathan Boggon and the ladies’ competition was won by Joan Curran.
