VETERANS of the biggest seaborne invasion in history will be talking about their experiences to the public next week.

Personnel who took part in the Normandy landings in 1944 will be at the Castle Museum in York for an informal event on August 19.

And members of the public are being invited to meet them and hear more about the part they played in turning the tide of the war on D-Day.

Collections facilitator Faye Prior said: “D-Day proved to be a crucial turning point during the war and to mark the 70th anniversary we are very lucky to have a number of men coming to the museum to share their experiences with us.

“This is a rare chance for the public to have a informal chat with Veterans from the landings and to hear their remarkable stories.”

The event will run from 10am to 4pm and is included in the admission price. It will take place on the second floor of the Debtors Prison side of the museum and there is no need to book.
