A TEENAGE girl is recovering after suffering a serious sex attack outside a nightclub.

The 18-year-old is being supported by specially-trained officers following the assault outside Club Amadeus on Elder Road in Northallerton, between midnight and 2.30am on Sunday, August 10.

Police are urging a number of club-goers who were in and around the venue at the time, and in particular, people who assisted the woman in the nightclub’s foyer following the incident to come forward.

Police would also like to speak to anyone who saw a young woman in distress outside the club in the early hours of Sunday morning to get in touch.

Superintendent Amanda Oliver said: “It is very unusual for something like this to happen in such a small community.

“The victim is understandably extremely upset by what has happened to her and we are doing everything we can to offer her the support she needs at this time.

“I would like to thank the people who assisted her following the incident and ask them to come forward with any information that can help us with this investigation.”

Two men, both aged 20, have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in police custody for questioning.
