DETECTIVES are appealing for information after thieves broke into a home and stole items of sentimental value, including a Second World War medal.

They broke into the rear of a home on Thirsk Road in Northallerton between 7.45am and 6pm on Monday, August 4. While they were there, they took a 1980s ladies’ Gucci wrist watch, which has a gold solid band strap and interchangeable bezel rings.

They also took an African Star medal, awarded to soldiers who served in the Africa campaign during the Second World War.

Detective Constable Matt Mitchell, of Northallerton CID, said: “The stolen items are of great sentimental value to the owners.

“If you have been offered items matching the description of those which have been stolen, I urge you to contact the police straight away.

“I am also keen to speak to anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour in the area during the time of the burglary and ask that they get in touch.”

Anyone who can assist with this enquiry should contact Northallerton CID on 101, select option 2 and ask for Matt Mitchell. Alternatively, information can be emailed to matthew.mitchell@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
