A VILLAGE Post Office is set to get a new look after a short closure of the service.

The office, within Scorton Village Store in High Road, Scorton, will launch at 1pm on Friday, August 29.

Customers will be able to access Post Office and mail services, including Special Delivery, Local Collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals.

The Post Office service will be available during the store’s opening hours, 7am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday.

Scorton Post Office will close at 5.30pm on Wednesday, August 20 for the refurbishment to take place. During this short period of closure Post Office services may be accessed from any convenient Post Office branch, including Catterick Village and Brompton-On-Swale Post Offices

Local residents will now be able to access a wide range of Post Office services 26 hours a week more than previously offered.

Other services include sending funds abroad, paying bills, pre-ordering travel money, and topping up mobile phones.

Julie Kemp, area manager, said: “We are confident this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community will be popular.”
