'Carving out Success'

Two members of a local woodcarving club were prize winners at this years Great Yorkshire show. Mick McCabe won first prize for his carving of a human skull and Maurice Walker gained a 'highly commended' award for a carving of a bear and cub.

Both Mick and Maurice are members of the Durham and North Yorkshire Region of the British Woodcarvers Association. The club meets each Tuesday evening during school term times at High Coniscliffe Primary School, between 7pm to 9pm. The club boasts over 60 members and new members are always welcome.

Duncan McConachie, Region Leader, said that both Mick and Maurice have done the club proud and all members congratulate them on their achievements. Club details can be found on the British Woodcarvers Association website.
