ONE of Yorkshire’s most prominent chefs will be playing a key role in one of the region’s highest-profile food award schemes this year.

Multi-award winning Stephanie Moon will be presenting the trophies to the winners of the Flavours of Herriot Country Awards at Thirsk Racecourse in November.

Well-known for her many TV appearances, she grew up in Yorkshire and has firmly established herself on the country’s food scene.

During her 25 years in the food profession she has travelled the world, working in some of the finest hotels and restaurants.

A great advocate of local produce, she gives demonstrations around the region – and recently she designed the menu for the Tour de France gala dinner at Harrogate’s Royal Hall.

“I am really honoured to be presenting the awards at this year’s Flavours of Herriot Country Awards,” she said.

“They embrace, recognise and celebrate all the best Yorkshire food and drink businesses in Richmond and Hambleton.

“I just hope that as many restaurateurs, retailers, producers and publicans as possible have entered the awards, so we can all applaud and recognise them for what they contribute to this region.”
