A SINGER who has collaborated with the likes of Mariah Carey and Chaka Khan will perform at one of the most glamorous events in the horseracing calendar next month.

Jennifer Phillips will perform at Sedgefield Racecourse’s annual Ladies Evening in Sedgefield, County Durham on Tuesday, August 26.

Phillips fuses Motown, soul, jazz and R&B and her powerful vocals have captivated audiences all over the world.

The annual raceday, which raises money for the Great North Air Ambulance, will also feature a performance by Moni Tivony, star of the BBC1 show The Voice.

Sponsored by Roflow Environmental Engineering, Ladies Evening is a chance for women to don posh frocks and fascinators for an evening of Champagne and style.

The fun begins at 2.55pm, with the first of seven races setting off at 4.55pm.

There will also be a best dressed competition, with a £500 prize, and an on-site hair salon run by Be Premiere Hair of Darlington.

Jill Williamson, executive director at Sedgefield Racecourse, said: “Ladies Evening is always a highlight of the region’s social calendar. What more could you ask for than glitz and glamour and a glass or two of Champagne?

“I’d urge anyone who hasn’t already booked up to get their tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.”

Champagne packages are available from £24, while marquee packages, including finger buffet lunch and Champagne reception drink, are available for £65.
