POLICE investigating after two shots were fired at the door of a North-East house in broad daylight on Friday have this morning arrested two teenagers.

Cleveland Police said two local men aged 19 were arrested during a pre-planned operation in the Grangetown area of Middlesbrough.

Both have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

A number of addresses in the Grangetown and Eston areas have been searched in connection with the investigation.

Detective Inspector Matt Murphy-King who is leading the investigation said: “We are still keen to speak to any witnesses to the incident on Friday afternoon, and anyone with information should contact police on the non-emergency number 101.

“Reassurance patrols will continue in the area and I would urge anyone who has concerns to speak to a uniformed officer.”

The shooting took place at a property on Eglington Road in Grangetown, at about 4.30pm on Friday, and a man wearing a grey tracksuit with blue stripes was seen running from the scene.

No-one was injured in the incident.

DI Murphy-King said: “We believe this was a targeted incident and fortunately no-one was injured.

“We are treating this as isolated incident and would reassure people that such occurrences are rare within the Cleveland Police area."
